ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
RAY VERLAGE Director, Men's Shed Vernon
Ray Verlage is a retired sales and marketing business owner who spent his career serving the waterworks industry. After retiring in 2013, he pursued further education, earning an ICF Executive Coaching certificate from Royal Roads University. Passionate about mentorship and community building, Ray has been a Director at Men’s Shed Vernon since 2018, helping to foster an environment where men can connect, share skills, and contribute to the community. An avid sailor, he enjoys guiding and inspiring others through both his personal and professional experiences.
VINCENT JANZEN Retired educator & EdTech consultant
Vincent Janzen is a lifelong educator and EdTech consultant who has worked in education around the world. Growing up on a farm in Ontario, he developed strong construction skills early on, which later evolved into a passion for fine carpentry and digital design. While his professional career took him across the globe, his love for woodworking remained constant. Now, as he transitions into retirement, Vincent is dedicating more time to his craft and embracing the opportunity to build, create, and share his skills with others at Men’s Shed Vernon.
LARRY PETERSON Retired carpenter & handyman
Larry Peterson was born and raised on a family farm in southwest Saskatchewan, where he and his wife Jo continued farming while raising their two children. In 2010, they sold the farm and moved to Medicine Hat, where Larry worked as a carpenter and handyman for 10 years. In 2020, they relocated to Predator Ridge, drawn to the Okanagan’s active lifestyle and proximity to their grandchildren on the coast. Looking for ways to stay engaged in his new community, Larry joined Men’s Shed Vernon that same year and found it to be a great way to meet new people and give back.
