ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dave Butler, a new resident at Predator Ridge, is a retired professional biologist and forester, a writer and photographer, and a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Dave has written and published three crime/mystery novels, and he'll be speaking about his writing process, the three novels in the Jenny Willson mystery series, and finish with a focus on how and why he "took" his main character to Namibia in the third book. This will be accompanied by strong visuals including images of people, wildlife and landscapes from northern Namibia.
ABOUT DAVE'S MOST RECENT BOOK:
In this third novel in the Jenny Willson mystery series, Willson joins an American colleague on a secondment to assist Namibian authorities trying to stem the loss of rhinos to illegal poaching. But the plan takes a dramatic shift when Willson finds herself in the cross-hairs of a conspiracy of wildlife poachers backed by a shadowy network of international buyers who appear ready to eliminate any obstacles in their way, including Willson and her team. While the African assignment allows Willson to sidestep personal and professional questions that remain unanswered back home, she quickly recognizes that leaving the Canadian Rockies could have deadly ramifications.
