JOIN US FOR ‘NOW YOU SEE ME: A CONVERSATION ON VISION, SUPPORT & COMMUNITY’
Every four minutes, someone in Canada begins to lose their sight. The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) is there to support individuals, families, and caregivers navigating vision loss through a wide range of free programs, services, and advocacy.
Join us for an important and informative PREDTalk featuring representatives from CNIB, who will share how their organization supports Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. From employment workshops and technology training to youth programs, peer support, and community involvement, this session will highlight the many ways CNIB empowers people to live full, meaningful lives.
Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in optional Sighted Guide Training, designed to build confidence and practical skills when interacting with people who have vision loss.
Understanding Vision Loss: Learn about the most common causes of vision loss in Canada and how they can affect people at any stage of life.
Programs and Support Available: Discover the wide range of free CNIB programs and services available to individuals who are blind or partially sighted, as well as their families and caregivers.
How to Be a Better Ally: Gain practical insight into how to confidently and respectfully support people with vision loss in everyday situations.
Sighted Guide Basics: Those who choose to stay will receive Sighted Guide Training following the talk, offering hands-on guidance to build awareness, confidence, and practical skills.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Losing her sight in 2018, Vittoria continues to break barriers, supporting communities from Kamloops to the Kootenays as the only full-time resource in the Southern Interior. She works diligently with local governments to promote accessibility and is a member of the City of West Kelowna’s Accessibility and Inclusion Committee. Vittoria will share the many programs and services available as well as lead the Sighted Guide Training following the PREDTalk for those interested in learning effective interaction with limited vision individuals.
Tracy works with individuals, corporations and foundations to create meaningful community impacts.
